On 30 July 2021, Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev was presented the prestigious Dr.Rema Mohan Gold Medal Oration at Dr.Mohan’s International Diabetes Update 2021. Dr.Kesavadev delivered an oration on the topic ‘My journey with diabetes technologies since two decades’.

Virtual Covid In-Patient (VCIP) Care, a novel concept of providing “in-patient” level care at home during the pandemic, can prevent overwhelming hospitals was introduced by Jothydev’s Diabetes Research Centre. Recently the team published their findings in the journal ‘Diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome: Clinical Research and Reviews.’ This new interventional home care model for Covid management has shown that among 220 patients who availed of the virtual Covid inpatient facility, only two were hospitalised yielding a 99.5 per cent success rate in preventing hospitalisations.

Facebook Live: Indu Thampy in conversation with Dr. Jothydev Kesavadev

Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev and Ms.Indu Thampy were on Facebook live on 2 August 2021 that caught the attention of a lot of people. This is the first time in history, a patient with type 1 diabetes is acting in a key role in a film as someone with type 1 diabetes. Ms.Indu Thampy spoke about her experience as a type 1 and about her upcoming film, ‘18 hours’.

Roche Diabetes Care hosted an International Speaker Webinar ‘Glucovigilance with integrated Personalised Diabetes Management (iPDM) on 6 August 2021. Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev was part of the elite panel including Dr.V Mohan, Dr.Shashank R Joshi, Dr.Julia Mader(Austria), Dr.Paul Van Haelst, Dr.Varsha Khatry and Dr.Caterina Pesenti. Dr.Kesavadev spoke on ‘mySugar: benefit for people with diabetes’.

JPEF Mini CME, August 2021

JPEF Mini CME 'An update on Gen. 2.0 Basal Insulin & the New Generation Insulin Pen' was hosted virtually on 14 August 2021, from 07:30 pm to 09:30 pm. The program was set off by Ms.Gopika Krishnan, Head, Academics and Research, Jothydev's Diabetes Research Centre (JDC) with a brief welcome. The scientific sessions began with the lecture on ‘Gen 2.0 basal, A new benchmark for redefining glycemic control’ by Dr.Anish Ahamed, Perinthalmanna. Dr.Arun Shankar, Senior Consultant Diabetologist and Medical Director, JDC was the chairperson of the session.

This was followed by the much awaited launch of Toujeo Cartridge and Toustar. Later Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev, Chairman and Managing Director, JDC gave insights on ‘Time in range: Clinical implications and role of Gen 2.0 basal’, which was chaired by Dr. Madhu N, North Paravur, Chairman, Cochin Diabetic Club. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Arun Shankar. Around 300 doctors from around India participated in this virtual educational event.
