insulin injection
In 1922, on 11th January, in Toronto, 14-year-old Leonard Thompson became the first diabetic to receive an insulin injection. Frederick Banting and J.J.R. MacLeod of the University of Toronto shared the next year's Nobel Prize for Medicine for the discovery of the treatment.
