A new coronavirus mutation first reported in the UK last month is believed to be up to 70% more transmissible. Since then, parts of the UK imposed strict restrictions, and many countries around the world have restricted incoming travel from the country. The situation urges the necessity of rapid actions to control the widespread virus variant.

      According to Dr.Moncef Slaoui, the White House chief adviser to Operation Warp Speed, the virus should be controllable by COVID-19 vaccines recently granted emergency use authorization. The RNA virus mutates as part of its normal behavior, and therefore we can expect its variants. He added that according to the information shared by the UK scientists and the collected early data, it can be thought that the virus variant should be under control with vaccines.

      The vaccine companies and health experts opined that there was a relatively high chance the company's vaccine should remain effective.
