March 8: 2009: Diabscreen talk: Kedamangalam, Ernakulam

Dr.Jothydev was invited by Kedamangalam Kudumbakshema Samithi for 3 hour interactive talk on prevention and treatment of diabetes. The program is so unique in that Kedamangalam is the birth place of P.Kesavadev.The venue was Kedamangalam Govt LP School supposed to be the school where P.Kesavadev Studied during year 1910

Homer, Secretary of KKS welcomed the gathering.C.P Jayan(Municipal counselor) and others offered felicitations.The 60 plus participants were active in asking questions.Free blood sugar screening was also conducted.Jayapalan.A co ordinated the program. Sunitha Jothydev and Krishnadev also seen in pictures.

March 12, 2009: World Kidney day.

Kesavadev trust(Diabscreen Kerala) organised a patient get together and education meet at Jothydev's Diabetes and Research Center. P. Govinda Pillai, veteran Marxist leader and ideologue from Kerala inaugurated the meeting. He shared his own experiences being diabetic for more than 30 years and how to prevent complications of the same. Being a patient of Jothydev for over a decade, he had brought several of his well wishers to him.However 50% of them for want of adhering to a strict protocol of monitoring, diet and exercise left him but most of them over the years required bypass surgeries, dialysis etc. He underscored the importance of laboratory tests for liver, kidney, lipids etc., on a regular basis and treating all risk factors. The World Kidney day message "keep pressure down" was highlighted in the meeting.

The importance of A1c, Blood pressure, tele medicine, Stains etc., were discussed.Various therapeutic options in established CKD, was discussed. Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev lead the discussion. JDC Dietician, Geethu lectured on diet in diabetes and kidney disease which evoked lots of questions from the patients.

March 15, 09: Diabscreen free camp: Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram.

Diabscreen Kerala-Kesavadev Trust in association with Lions Club TVM Metropolis, conducted a free medical camp.Diabscreen screened 126 subjects free of cost. Lion Dist. Governor Dr.Thasim Syed Muhammed inaugurated. Lion.Dr.AG Rajendran chaired the inaugural session. venue: Sevagiri Hall, Pattom Marappalam Road 13 Residents associations were part of the venture. Dr.Jothydev and Dietitican Geethu conducted interactive classes for the participants.All subjects were examined by Dr.Jothydev, Dr.Arun Shankar and the team.
