Artificial Pancreas consists of new generation smart insulin pump, Continuous Glucose Monitoring and sophisticated algorithms. Currently, in the clinical trials, smart cell phones like the iPhones are being used as a powerful platform to get wirelessly connected to CGM and insulin pump to generate algorithms. Once the clinical trials are successful, Artificial Pancreas should be capable of modulating the insulin release from insulin pump in response to changing blood glucose values. Today, we are almost close to ‘closing the loop’.
