World Diabetes Day, observed on November 14, serves as an occasion to raise awareness about diabetes as a critical public health concern. It emphasizes collective and individual efforts to prevent, diagnose, and treat diabetes. According to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), this year marks the conclusion of the three-year theme (2021-2023) of ‘Access to diabetes care’. This year’s campaign emphasizes the significance of understanding an individual’s risk of type 2 diabetes to facilitate the delay or prevention of the condition. It also highlights the impact of diabetes-related complications and stresses the importance of access to accurate information and care to ensure timely treatment and management.
The slogan for 2023 campaign is ‘Know your risk, Know your response’.
