Session 7 of the DREAMS Practicals was held at St. Mary’s Girls High School, Payyanur, engaging 40 individuals with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) along with their parents and teachers. The program commenced with personal introductions, fostering a sense of community, and proceeded with interactive activities like Diabetes Bingo and hands-on workshops on carbohydrate counting and insulin dosage calculation.
Practical demonstrations covered essential skills, including the proper use of glucose meters, insulin injection techniques, and storage practices. A highlight of the day was the Balloon Game of Myths and Facts, which effectively debunked common misconceptions about T1D through a fun and engaging approach. The session concluded with a vital discussion on sick day management and an open Q&A, where participants had the opportunity to clarify doubts directly with experts. All attendees received tokens of appreciation, while winners of the games were rewarded with practical gifts like lancets, needles, glucose meters, and strips. This session emphasized education and empowerment, equipping participants with the knowledge and tools necessary for better diabetes management while fostering a supportive community.

A Patient Education Program was successfully conducted at the Mini Hall of Jothydev’s Diabetes Research Centre (JDC), Trivandrum, with the participation of 30 individuals with diabetes under JDC's care.
The program featured informative sessions by Dr. Arun Shankar, Dr. Junaid Naina, Ms. Geethu Sanal, Dr. Krishnadev Jothydev, and Ms. Remya Jose, who addressed various aspects of diabetes management, offering valuable insights and practical advice.
The interactive event provided a platform for participants to enhance their understanding of diabetes care, empowering them to take proactive steps towards better health and well-being.

On October 10, 2024, the DREAMS Diabetes Academy hosted an insightful virtual class led by Dr. Shahana Yasmin on the topic of 'Microvascular Complications in Diabetes.'
The session provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of the causes, management, and prevention of complications such as diabetic retinopathy, nephropathy, and neuropathy. The interactive format allowed attendees to actively engage with the topic, enhancing their knowledge and addressing key questions related to diabetes care.

In observance of International Day of the Elderly 2024, IMA Nemom organized a public awareness program in collaboration with Madhava Kavi Samskruthi Kendram (MKSK) at Malayinkeezhu. The event was inaugurated by Sri Malayinkeezhu Venugopal (Chairman, MKSK) and chaired by Sri S. K. K. Nair (Patron, MKSK). Dr. Arun Shankar, Medical Director of Jothydev Diabetes and Research Centre and Secretary of IMA Nemom, delivered a session titled "Ageing with Dignity: The Importance of Strengthening Care and Support Systems for Older Persons Worldwide." The session highlighted the medical and social challenges faced by the elderly and the need for robust care systems. The event witnessed a large and engaged audience, reflecting the community's commitment to supporting and caring for older adults.
