The Accu-Chek Solo micropump is a small, tube-free insulin delivery system for subcutaneous delivery of insulin. This system concept is characterized by a small, modular and tubeless micropump programmed and operated by a diabetes manager that displays messages, warnings and errors to users. The diabetes manager also features an integrated blood glucose monitoring system using the Accu-Chek® Aviva/Performa strips and a bolus advisor supporting the user in calculating meal and correction boluses. The pump is made up of a number of components:
• The Diabetes Manager
• Pump holder
• Reservoir
• Cannula
• Insertion device
It has two quick bolus buttons for discreet bolus delivery directly on the micropump and provides the possibility of delivering a bolus even if the diabetes manager is not available. The adhesive used is Hypafix which is hypoallergenic and latex-free. The Solo MicroPump Insulin Delivery System was originally made by Medingo and purchased by Roche in 2010. Solo received FDA approval in 2009. This Detachable and re-attachable micropump is soon expected to hit the Indian market.
