8. DREAMS Blue Balloon Circle

DREAMS

DREAMS, an initiative of the Jothydev’s Diabetes Research Centre goes hand-in-hand with the diabetes community, especially among the diabetes population in Kerala, India to create awareness on type 1 diabetes. DREAMS Blue Balloon Circle formed by children with type 1 diabetes during the conduction of DREAMS program across Kerala represents a symbol to raise diabetes awareness. The blue circle has only been in existence since 2006, when the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), chose it because in many cultures a circle can symbolize life and health. More significantly, the circle represents the solidarity required to combat such a deadly non communicable \disease. IDF chose the color blue for the color of the sky and the flag of the United Nations, an organization that stands for unity among many nations and aims to raise awareness among citizens worldwide about the importance of prevention and continuous treatment of diabetes.
