2 Day Workshop on AID at JDC
Jothydev’s Diabetes Research Centre (JDC), in collaboration with Kesavadev Trust and the Indian Medical
Association (IMA) Nemom, successfully hosted a two-day workshop titled “From AP to Automated Insulin Delivery”
on December 21 and 22, 2024, at JDC, Trivandrum. The event brought together a diverse group of doctors from
Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and even participants from outside India.
The workshop focused on advancing diabetes care through automated insulin delivery systems, providing attendees
with an opportunity to learn from distinguished faculty and engage in insightful discussions on the latest
developments in diabetes management.
The workshop featured a well-structured program with lectures, case discussions, and hands-on sessions.
Highlights included sessions on hyperglycemia management, the history of automated insulin delivery systems,
and insights into the advanced hybrid closed loop (AHCL) system available in Indian market, MiniMed™ 780G
System. The event also included practical sessions on patient onboarding and therapy management, led by an
experienced multidisciplinary team. The interactive and practical nature of the workshop was widely
appreciated by attendees, who valued the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge in cutting-edge
diabetes technology. The event concluded with a certification ceremony, marking a significant contribution
to the professional development of healthcare providers in diabetes care.
Dreams Diabetes Academy Class 11
The eleventh session of the DREAMS Diabetes Academy was held on December 24, 2024, via the DREAMS Academy web portal. Ms. Geethu Sanal, Chief Dietician at Jothydev’s Diabetes Research Centre, delivered a lecture on "Hypoglycemia Management". Ms. Geethu provided a detailed session on how to manage hypoglycemic episodes and what all measures are to be taken to avoid hypoglycemia. She emphasized the importance of regular monitoring of blood glucose to avoid hypoglycemic events. The session was attended by 26 participants and their parents. It concluded with a lively Q&A session, allowing attendees to clarify their queries and enhance their understanding of Hypoglycemia and ill effects of the same.
DREAMS Practicals, Wayand
The DREAMS Practicals session took place on December 28, 2024, at Vyapara Bhavan in Wayanad, Kerala.
It brought together 32 individuals with Type 1 diabetes from the Wayanad district, accompanied by their
parents and caregivers
To keep the event engaging, activities such as a "Passing the Ball" game encouraged interaction and
teamwork, while the "Busting the Myth" game provided an enjoyable way to debunk common misconceptions
about Type 1 diabetes. These games added an educational twist to the fun, reinforcing important concepts
in diabetes care.
The day concluded with a focused discussion on managing glucose levels during sick days and exercise,
followed by an open Q&A session to address individual concerns. Tokens of appreciation, including
practical items like lancets, needles, glucose meters, and strips, were distributed to all participants
, with additional utility gifts awarded to game winners.
