JDC Glows Blue for World Diabetes Day 2025
On 14 November 2025, Jothydev’s Diabetes Research Center, Thiruvananthapuram, illuminated its building in blue to mark World Diabetes Day, symbolising unity, awareness, and support for the global diabetes community. As an IDF Centre of Excellence, JDC continues its longstanding commitment to advocacy, education, and improved diabetes care.
World Diabetes Day Virtual CME
On World Diabetes Day 2025, Dr. Jothydev Kesavadev participated as faculty in the Virtual CME focusing on practical updates in insulin therapy. The session highlighted the ongoing widespread use of human insulin despite decades of availability of modern insulin analogs and stressed the need to increase awareness on benefits such as reduced hypoglycemia, improved ease of use, and fewer dosing errors.
Dr. Jothydev Kesavadev discussed real world challenges in managing insulin therapy, including post-meal glucose spikes, regimen selection, and in-hospital insulin strategies, alongside other national experts. The programme successfully reinforced the importance of continued education, improved access, and patient-centred diabetes care.
World Diabetes Day Walkathon, Kochi
As part of World Diabetes Day observance, JDC Kochi actively participated in a diabetes awareness walk led by Dr. Asha Ashik and her team. The initiative engaged patients, caregivers, and the public, emphasising the importance of lifestyle modification, early screening, and sustained awareness in diabetes prevention and management.
World Diabetes Day Marathon, Kasaragod
At JDC Kasaragod, World Diabetes Day activities were highlighted by a spirited marathon organised under the leadership of Dr. Shahana Yasmin and her team. The event reflected strong community involvement and reinforced JDC’s mission to encourage healthier habits, early awareness, and proactive diabetes prevention across all age groups.
Free Diabetes Camp at JDC Haripad
As part of World Diabetes Day 2025, Jothydev’s Diabetes and Research Centre, Haripad, conducted a free diabetes screening and awareness camp led by Dr. Yaseen Unes and team. The initiative offered free testing, counselling, and education to support early detection and better diabetes management within the community.
World Diabetes Day Scientific Session on SMBG
As part of World Diabetes Day activities, Dr. Jothydev Kesavadev delivered an impactful scientific session emphasizing the essential role of structured self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) in effective diabetes care. He highlighted a key message: “Whatever be the treatment or stage of diabetes, if a structured home glucose monitoring protocol is not followed, diabetes management will eventually fail.”
The session also featured global expert Dr. Elizabeth Holt (USA), with discussions centred on how systematic glucose monitoring can prevent complications, guide therapy decisions, and improve long-term outcomes. Special appreciation was extended to Virendra, Dr. Pratibha Karnad, and the organising team for coordinating a meaningful and timely educational programme aligned with World Diabetes Day goals.

53rd RSSDI 2025 Announced at Kochi Press Meet
The 53rd Annual Conference of the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI 2025) was officially announced at a press conference held at the Ernakulam Press Club. Addressing the media, Dr. Jothydev Kesavadev (Organising Chairman), Dr. Anita Nambiar (Organising Secretary), and Dr. Rafiq Mohamed (Treasurer) shared details of the upcoming event, which will be hosted at the Grand Hyatt, Kochi, from November 6–9, 2025. The organizers emphasized that the conference aims to advance initiatives that not only extend lifespan but also enhance the quality of life for people with diabetes. 53rd RSSDI 2025 is expected to draw over 7,000 participants, including diabetologists, physicians, researchers, dietitians, and healthcare professionals from across India, making it one of the largest gatherings dedicated to diabetes research and care.
