6.Fatty Meal and Coffee Combination Doubles Blood Sugar Spike

    Caffeinated coffee during a fatty meal can double the spike of your blood sugar level. The results tell us that a high fat meal suppresses hormones that signal the pancreas to release insulin. When coffee is added, the effect doubles; said Marie-Soleil Beaudoin, a PhD student who conducted the study with University of Guelph professors Lindsay Robinson and Terry Graham. "Having sugar remain in our blood for long periods is unhealthy because it can take a toll on our body's organs."

    For people with diabetes or at risk of developing diabetes, or for people interested in eating healthy in general, it is a good idea to cut high-fat foods from your diet, especially the unhealthy saturated fats found in processed food and fast food meals. And if you do indulge in a fast-food meal once in a while, you may wish to skip the caffeinated soda or coffee that comes with your meal
