D-TechCon

A two-day conference D-TechCon, World Congress of Diabetes Technology, was held on 7 and 8 May 2022. Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev, Dr.Arun Shankar (Medical Director, JDC) and Ms.Gopika Krishnan (Director, Academics) participated in the conference.
On the first day of the conference, Dr.Jothydev spoke on ‘Noninvasive glucose monitoring: tattoos to contact lenses’ during the session ‘Futuristic Technologies’ chaired by Dr.Dhruvi Hasnani. Dr.Warren Lee (Singapore) and Dr.Jibin Chi (Sweden) were the other speakers of the session.
Dr.Arun Shankar was the chairperson of the session ‘Therapies of tomorrow’ along with Dr.Sanjay Reddy on 8 May 2022. Dr.Erica Nishimura (Denmark), Dr.Iryna Vlasenko (Ukrain) and Dr.Thomas Crabtree (UK) were the speakers of the session.
Dr.Jothydev moderated the session ‘Insulin pump school’ together with Dr.Saurabh Mishra. The speakers of the session were Dr.Debashish Das, Dr.Frida Sunbherg (Sweden), Dr.Pratik Chaudhary (UK) and Dr.Thomas Danne (Germany). He was also a panelist for the discussion titled ‘Future prospects and limitations of technology in diabetes care’ moderated by Dr. Manoj Chawla. Dr.Alok Gupta (UK) and Dr.Suresh Purohit (Mumbai) were the other panelists in the discussion.
The panel discussion entitled, ‘Diabetes technology in real life: when patients explore the frontiers’ was moderated by Ms.Gopika Krishnan. The panelists of the discussion included Ms.Jazz Sethi, Mr.Prashanth Mani and Mr.Sahil Madan.

Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev was an invited speaker at the 15th International Conference on Advanced Technologies & Treatments for Diabetes (ATTD), Barcelona, Spain. Dr.Jothydev spoke on ‘WhatsApp support group for 950 children and adolescents/parents with type 1 diabetes - Physician’s perspective on merits and demerits’. Two of the original research from JDC were presented during the two-day event titled, Can Physical Activity as an Independent Parameter Influence TIR?’ and ‘Comparing the Benefits of a Painless Lancing Device in People with Diabetes in Improving Self-Monitoring Frequency and HbA1c’.

Sweet Annual Assembly 2022

Ms.Gopika Krishnan, Director of Academics and Research, lectured about type 1 diabetes management at Jothydev’s Diabetes Research Centres, with specific reference to telemedicine practice since 1997; at the Sweet Annual Assembly, Barcelona, Spain on 25 April 2022. This successful model of type 1 diabetes care was widely appreciated.

JPEF Mini CME - ‘Distinct’ Diabetes and GLP 1 summit (Rybelsus Launch)

The JPEF Mini CME, ‘Distinct’ Diabetes and GLP 1 summit was hosted by Novo Nordisk in association with JPEF on 20 April 2022, from 07:30 pm. The program was set off by Dr. Jothydev Kesavadev with a brief welcome.
Dr. Ajith Kumar PV set the context of the first plenary session, ‘Pragmatic approach in diabetes management’. The session began with a lecture on ‘Novel insights into diabetes pathophysiology” by Dr.Sunil Prasobh P, followed by Dr. Thushanth Thomas, who spoke on ‘Subduing the enemy of adequate glycemic control- clinical inertia’. Dr. Tiny Nair spoke on ‘shifting paradigms in diabetes care: glucocentricity to gluco-cardio-centricity’. The session was concluded with a panel discussion with Dr. Rajmohan L, Dr. Ajith Kumar S, and Dr. Arun V as the panelists.
The context of the second plenary session ‘Novo Nordisk game-changer symposium’ was set by Dr. Sanjay Zachariah. Dr. Mathew John, Dr. Tittu Oommen and Dr. Prasanth Sankar spoke on ‘Inception of a game-changing idea: delivering peptide in a pill’, ‘Oral semaglutide: PIONEERing innovation translating research to outcomes’ and ‘Wake up to the newer possibilities with oral semaglutide’ respectively. This was followed by a panel discussion with the experts, Dr. Sukesh R S, Dr. Anand Marthanda Pillai and Dr. Mohan T Shenoy.
Subsequently, there was the launch of ‘Rybelus, the oral semaglutide’. The last technical session of the event was an expert talk show comprising Dr. Krishnakumar B, Dr. Noble Gracious, Dr. Abhilash Nair, and Dr. Sumesh Raj. The event was concluded by Dr. Jothydev Kesavadev. 100 doctors from around Trivandrum and Kollam participated in the educational event.
