The World Diabetes Day Camp at JDC 1 was inaugurated by Padmashree Prof.O.N.V.Kurup on 11 Nov 2011. The camp had more than 300 participants listening to the diabetes day messages by Prof. O.N.V.Kurup, Dr. Jothydev Kesavadev & Dr. Arun Shankar followed by diabetes day walk .Dr. Kasia Lipska MD, Endocrinologist, USA  also addressed the gathering. Diabetes diet talks were given by Ms. Geethu Sanal & Ms. Sonia Praveen. Free blood tests including HbA1c, blood glucose, lipid, liver and kidney function tests were performed for all the camp participants. Food including lunch was provided to all participants free of cost. Post lunch session included free consultation and diabetes education by the diabetes treatment team. Ms. Sunitha Jothydev, Mr. Aneesh Kumar & Gopika Krishnan organized the World Diabetes Week events.
