Blue Breakfast Seminar was conducted at Vivanta by Taj on 12 Nov 2015 as part of Healthy Eating campaign of IDF. Dr.Jothydev lectured on ‘Choice of Sustainable First & Second Line Therapies in Diabetes. ‘ Dr.Arun Shankar lectured on ‘Uses of Metformin’ and Dr.Ashwin David lectured on ‘Uses of Sulphonyl Ureas’. More than 30 doctors participated in the seminar. Low dose sulphonyl urea was launched in the CME. The CME was organized by JPEF and P.Kesavadev Trust.
As part of world diabetes month, free diabetes awareness, detection and treatment camp was organised by Help for Helpless, Kedamangalam Unit, Kedamangalam Pappukutty Memorial Library and P. Kesavadev Trust at Kedamangalam Govt. L.P. School, Paravoor, Kochi on 14th November. Kedamangalam is the birth place of late P. Kesavadev.
The camp saw participation of more than 150 patients for whom anthropometric measurements and blood tests and body tests for diabetes was performed free of cost. Dr. Sheeja Srinivas Consultant Diabetologist, JDC Kochi gave the world diabetes day message. Free consultation was given by diabetes team headed by Dr. Sheeja Srinivas and free medicines were provided.
Dr. Manu P Viswam, President, Help for Helpless chaired the program. Mr. Anil V.S Secretary, Pappukutty Memorial Library gave welcome.
Mr. Sasikumar Thummarakkudy inaugurated the camp.Mr. V.G Joshi, Paravoor Thaluk Library Council gave felicitations. Ms. Neethu Annie Ajai, Unit Head and Dietitian, JDC Kochi lectured on healthy diet in diabetes. Dr. K.G Jayan, Thaluk Hospital, North Paravoor, Dr. Anitha Peroorkada General Hospital etc. spoke at the camp.
Mr. Joseph Padayatty, Secretary, Help for Helpless gave vote of thanks. Mr. Sunil Prabhakar organised the camp with P. Kesavadev Trust.
World diabetes day walkathon was organised by JDC Kochi on 14th November from TBCL Building, Bypass signal, Palarivattom to Palarivattom Junction at 4 pm.
Let's walk together to spread the awareness of diabetes control was the theme this year. Dr. Sebastian Paul, Ex MLA flagged off the walkathon.Palarovattom Counsillor Ms. Mini Mol presided the program. BJP District Secretary M.N Madhu was the chief guest.Ms. Neethu Annie Ajai, Centre Head, JDC Kochi, Dr. Sheeja Srinivas, Consultant JDC Kochi, diabetes team and patients at JDC and hundreds of general public also took part in the walkathon with an aim to spread the awareness on diabetes.
JDC participated in the #insulin4all campaign 2015 by T1 international which promotes the theme: one united world of people with diabetes. This global force is standing together to push for access to diabetes supplies, care, and treatment for all. We are the world in world diabetes day is the fitting theme this year that brings all back to the true spirit of World Diabetes Day.
JDC had this message conveyed with an #insulin4all campaign with MLA Shri V. Sivankutty on 14 Nov 2015 at JDC. JDC was part of this campaign last year too.
World Diabetes Day Walkathon was organised by P. Kesavadev Trust on 14 Nov at Trivandrum. The walkathon was flagged off by Dr. George Onakkoor. More than 100 people participated in the camp led by Dr. Jothydev Kesavadev.

As part of World Diabetes Month, P. Kesavadev Trust and JDC lighted the Trivandrum Central Railway Station on 13-14 Nov 2015. "Blue monument lighting" is an IDF campaign to spread the message of diabetes awareness.
Trivandrum Central Railway Station is the busiest and largest railway station in Kerala and is a landmark of the capital city,Trivandrum. It was inaugurated during the reign of Sethu Lakshmi Bayi, Maharani of Travancore in 1931.Built completely with rock masonry and no bricks. This historical monument was selected this year so that the message on silent and hidden complications of diabetes and the significance of eating less and being physically active reaches millions.
World Diabetes Month Mega Camp was organized by P.Kesavadev Trust and Mathrubhumi daily on 14th November as part of World Diabetes Month. Free blood tests, body tests and anthropometric measurements were provided to 140 patients who attended the camp.
Dr.George Onakkor, novelist inaugurated the camp. Dr.Arun Shankar, Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev and Dr.Ashwin David gave awareness lectures on prevention and treatment of diabetes. Ms.Geethu Sanal and Ms. Remya Iyyer gave lectures on healthy diet in diabetes. Dr.Ambika Shetty, Ophthalmologist, Geethanjali Hospital gave lecture on eye care in diabetes. Patients were provided free consultation and medicines. Insulin injection techniques were demonstrated by diabetes educators. The diabetes team at JDC actively participated.

Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev gave an educational lecture at Vakkom Sauhrida Vedi on 15 Nov 2015 as part of WDD. The program was organized by Vakkom Sauhrida Vedi & P.Kesavadev Trust at the historical Trivandrum Hotel from 10:00-1:00 pm. Secretary, Vakkom Sauhrida Vedi, Mr.R.Sumethan gave welcome. President Mr. C.V.Surendran presided the function. Mr.V.Gopi Joint Secretary gave felicitations.

A fun get together was organized by JDC as part of World Diabetes Month on 15th Nov at JDC. Ms.Indu Thampy was the chief guest. The challenges and concerns of type 1 kids were discussed in an open forum. Motivational lectures by Indu Thampy and husband Major Kishore to successfully live with diabetes was widely applauded. Gifts were given to the kids who joined the get together.
Dr. Arun Shankar, Unit Head, JDC Trivandrum lectured at a diabetes education program on 20th Nov at SBT Poojapura as part of World Diabetes Month. The program was oragnized by Pooja Social Circle and P. Kesavadev Trust.
As part of world diabetes month celebrations, a healthy lunch fest organised by P.Kesavadev Trust at Jothydev's Diabetes Research Centre(JDC) was inaugurated by Shri. V. Sivankutty MLA. The honourable MLA underscored the importance of timely and healthy meals in the treatment of diabetes. According to International Diabetes Federation, 70% failure in the treatment of diabetes is directly attributed to unhealthy eating habits, said Dr. Jothydev Kesavadev the organiser of the event. Geethu Sanal, Chief Dietitian, JDC described in detail the portion size of the meals and the approved ways of selecting and cooking brown rice, fenugreek, bitter gourd, ivy gourd, fish, green leafy vegetables etc.for diabetes patients, without losing their nutritional value. All the participants were served with delicious and healthy lunch. It is important that patients with diabetes consume all the three main meals and healthy snacks in between everyday at the same time. All the participants also received healthy meal choices' educational leaflet. Dr. Arun Shankar, Dr. Ashwin David, Geethu Sanal, Remya Iyer, Dr. Jothydev Kesavadev participated. This was the last of the 22 events organised by P.Kesavadev Trust across Kerala during world diabetes month to educate public and patients.
