Diabetes Research and Solutions (DRS) Conference 2023

The Diabetes Research and Solutions (DRS) conference was conducted in Mumbai on the 1st and 2nd of September 2023. Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev presented his talks on ‘Indian TIR guidelines and clinical utility of TIR’ and ‘Connected devices in diabetes management’. Ms.Sunitha Jothydev, moderated lectures on mind and diabetes.

Patient Education Programme

Patient education program September was conducted at JDC Trivandrum on the 23 September 2023. The program included education on diet, insulin injection techniques, and diabetes education and awareness. Dr.Arun Shankar, Ms.Geethu Sanal and Ms.Remya Jose spoke at the event.

Launch of DREAMS project

The DREAMS (Diabetes Resources Education & Awareness Advocacy Mentorship and Support) project was launched on 25 September 2023 at Kesavadev Hall in Trivandrum. DREAMS is the third phase of the type 1 diabetes education and awareness program by P. Kesavadev Trust. The event was inaugurated by Malayalam actor and director Padma Bhushan Shri Mohanlal, by presenting ‘Dreams Smart Kits’ to three type 1 kids. The ‘DREAMS Type 1 Registry’ was inaugurated by Shri.V Sivankutty (Education Minister of Kerala). DREAMS Diabetes Academy was inaugurated by Smt.R Bindu (Minister of Higher Education).

More than 100 type 1 children, with their families, attended the program. Ms.Priyanaka Rai, (Director of policy, global access, JDRF International and Country Director, India), Dr.Banshi Saboo (Regional Chair-Elect, IDF), and Dr.Shashank R Joshi (Chair of IDF South East Asia) also spoke at the event.

DREAMS education class at Trivandrum

The first education awareness class as part of DREAMS project was conducted at JDC Trivandrum. 11 children and their parents participated. This close-knit program included workshops, activities, education sessions for children and parents, demo sessions, classes on diet and exercise, and other interactive programs.
