Hi,

“Old age of a Keralite; Are the preparations adequate?” was the topic of a seminar that was organised by P.Kesavadev Trust. It laid a platform to experts from diverse fields to discuss on preparations for old age among Malayalees in Kerala and abroad. Glimpses from the seminar is featured in Gems video of the month.

The opening article ‘Metformin Improves Bacteria in Gut’ brings out new evidences regarding metformin-induced changes in the gut microbiota that can mediate some of metformin's antidiabetic effects.

The other articles include benefits of Artificial Pancreas Systems in improving glycaemic control in patients with type 1 diabetes, a novel science fiction type contact lens for diabetes and glaucoma diagnosis, etc. Drug updates include a recent study conducted at JDC revealing the benefits of Liraglutide in treating new onset type 2 diabetes. The study was presented by Dr Jothydev Kesavadev at the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) 2017 Annual Meeting in Austin, TX.

Our regular updates - Gems picture of the month and Recipe of the month continue.
