Dr.Shaukat Sadikot has assumed office as the President of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) during the World Diabetes Congress 2015 at Vancouver, Canada for 2016-2017. The mission of the International Diabetes Federation is to promote diabetes care, prevention and a cure worldwide.

The first Indian to become the President of IDF, Dr. Sadikot has seen the diabetes crisis play out in the world as a renowned global expert in endocrinology, but it is clear that he has one goal. “There is no question making a difference on the ground for diabetes is a challenge, and we need to change that. In that regard, I don’t want to lead the diabetes community so much as serve the needs of all diagnosed and undiagnosed people with diabetes.”

Dr. Sadikot is the President of DiabetesIndia. Presently working as a Consultant in Endocrinology at the Jaslok Hospital and Research Center, Mumbai, he has been actively involved with the cause of diabetes and associated metabolic disorders for the past 30 years. Dr. Sadikot is the editor of the International Scientific Journal “Diabetes and the Metabolic Syndrome: Clinical Research and Reviews”. He has written four books and has 87 publications to his credit.
