Hi,

Thyroid disorders often remain undiagnosed and unnoticed. At EASD Austria, from Jothydev's Diabetes Research Centre, we presented an observation among 7402 patients with type 2 diabetes and significance of high prevalence of hypothyroidism. The symptoms of tiredness, weight gain, forgetfulness are easily confused with that of high blood sugars and hypoglycemia.

Gems video of the month is on the 'Use of insulin pump therapy in type 2 diabetes'.

Gems Picture of the Month features Oscar Minkowski who way back in 1889 described diabetes in pancreatectomised dogs. Other stories include the increased risk of Atrial Fibrillation in diabetes patients, how regular breakfast decreases the risk of type 2 diabetes in children etc.

Gems Recipe of the month, Drug Updates and JDC Updates continue in this issue.

Thanking you once again for the comments and suggestions. If in case you are not interested in receiving this free monthly newsletter, kindly reply with "delete gems" in the subject line to info@jothydev.net and also click the unsubscribe button at the bottom of this page.
