Hi,

All our friends and well wishers are aware that P.Kesavadev Trust is supporting the treatment of hundreds of patients who cannot afford therapy for diabetes.

Kids with type 1 diabetes since childhood, who cannot afford treatment are being supported by us directly or through well wishers. Many of them are married now and with kids. The recently launched Kesavadev Trust Type 1 diabetes Project(KT1DP) 'Sweet Stars' will focus on education of parents, teachers and family members in addition to comprehensive support.

The Gems video this month is in local language(Malayalam) titled 'Do patients really require insulin injections?'

We also touch upon the discovery of G3PP enzyme which may turn out to be a new therapeutic strategy for obesity, brief on the adverse events post Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, the benefits of catch up sleep during weekends etc.

Our recipe of the month this issue gives you a tasty choice of easy healthy fruit salad.

This and more you may read in the JDC Diabetes Gems first issue of 2016!
